Making popcorn

Te puke students were given some popcorn cobs from Mrs Davan. The students learnt how to cook popcorn from a cob, they pulled the corn off the cob, then watched Sandra heat the oil before adding the corn to the heated pot. The students enjoyed listening to all the popping and started to dance to the popping sound. We all got to enjoy the yummy popcorn afterwards.

Here are some photos of the students making popcorn.

Cross Country

Last Friday the whole school went to Johnny Jones’s farm to have our cross country. 5 other schools came, the sun was shining, the wind was down and everyone tried their best. There was a canteen for Te Manga and Te Tinana who were raising money for their camps. The toffee apples looked very yummy and the sausages smelt delicious! We went on the bus, lots of children also went in their parents cars.

The juniors came back at lunch time, and we had a quiet afternoon. Another successful cross country and we wish all the children good luck who are racing at Peria this Friday.

Our 20th Class member!

Minty lives next door in the school house, but Minty loves being apart of Te Putake. As you can see in the photo Minty is very comfortable in our class. He is so cute and fluffy. He likes to sleep a lot and he loves his biscuits that Mrs. Neki brings in for him.  Sometimes he jumps up on our learning table and likes to listen to the kids read their books to Mrs. Neki. After a feed of biscuits he lays as you can see in the picture above, in his favourite chair and cleans himself. We are happy to have Minty as our 20th class member!

We all love Minty, our class cat!

Oh no! The pool is closing.

Our school pool

Our school pool is closing a little earlier than usual because it is as green as a Frog!

Mrs Neki thinks the Hulk jumped in the pool and that is why it is green. It looks slimy and gross!

Macey thinks it looks disgusting!

Lincoln thinks it looks like someone has laid grass in it.

Ash thinks somebody has put green dye in the pool.

Aria thinks someone vomited green in the pool.

Prisha thinks someone dumped leaves in the pool.

Ngawai thinks it looks as green as a lime.

Paeton thinks it looks like it has lily pads in it.

Lexi thinks someone has put green slime in there.

Sandra thinks that the Ogre (Shrek) has sun bathed in our pool because he likes living in a stinky slump!

Ruud the Bug Man!

Today we had an exciting visit from a very passionate man, who adores bugs. He brought some Weta and Cockroaches, and some very large spiders. He explained to the children how important bugs are for our environment. Some children and adults got to hold one of these living things.

The children really enjoyed the visit and wrote some great stories. Sylvie did a great thank you to Ruud.

Pikelet making day!

Yesterday was my and April’s birthday, so to celebrate we made pikelets. The children decorated their own pikelets. We had sprinkles, jam, cream, golden syrup and maple syrup, and Nutella too.

It was lots of fun and the children wrote about it after. Photos went up on the school Facebook page.

Thank you

Te Putake
